In 2013, the NESA region continued to pursue and land major projects that have had a great influence on the region as a whole. NESA is continuing to work with additional prospects across the globe, while also ensuring our region is prepared to take advantage of future economic development opportunities through a variety of initiatives.
NESA led the way in developing agribusiness as a target industry for the region. Just in 2013, the NESA region announced the state’s only two sites designated as “shovel-ready” for the food and beverage industry, with one in Marion County and the other in Florence County. These sites represent the organization’s continued commitment to an industry that has great potential to become a key economic driver in our region.
In 2014, NESA will once again increase its efforts to bring additional economic opportunities for our nine member counties in an effort to further compete for jobs and capital investment. Activities in this regard will include more lead generation efforts, existing industry outreach and product development.
NESA will look to continue to use our connections, research capabilities and regional knowledge to provide our investors, county allies and the citizens of our region with world-class economic development opportunities.
We look forward to continuing to work with each of you in 2014 to make our region the best that it can be.
