Sunstrand, LLC today announced it is locating new biomaterial manufacturing operations in Florence County. The company is projected to bring $8.4 million of capital investment, leading to the creation of 42 new jobs.
"Sunstrand is excited about our expansion into South Carolina,” Sunstrand CEO Trey Riddle, said. “This investment will see the deployment of a major processing facility that builds a new industry from the ground up. Considering our need for world-class farmers, an accessible workforce and access to manufacturers in the region, South Carolina is the perfect location."
Working closely with farming partners to procure natural materials, Sunstrand, LLC produces bulk biomaterials to preform manufacturers, wastewater remediation companies and animal bedding distributors across North America. The company is an industry-leading supplier of natural fiber reinforcements and fillers for a variety of industries and is North America's only commercial decorticator of technical grade bast fibers.

Located at 1728 North River Road in Pamplico, S.C., the company's 140,000-square-foot facility is projected to come online in early 2019.
